Hi All,
Well Halloween is fast approaching. I have sent a note home regarding the Halloween the party on Friday. I am asking for healthy snacks only. Thank you for all who have already told me what they would be sending with their child. The students will be dressing up after lunch and we will be having the party in the afternoon. With a video chosen by the students.
We have another busy week. On Friday in the morning, it will be a normal school morning. We have two tests on Friday: October word wall and a health quiz on sugar.
Also PICTURE RETAKES are tomorrow---> WED!!
Next week we will be having a unit science test for both grade 4 and 5.
I am sending home with the grade 4 students the PAT results from last year. They are individually addressed.
Have a great week and Happy Halloween...please be safe!

Hello Everybody!
This week has been exciting! We have begun our science presentations on weather and waste. The presentations so far have been informative and interesting.
In PE the students were video-taped doing their square dancing!
We also have began our new social project on regions of Canada and Alberta. We are creating region brochures.
In language arts we have been learning about descriptive writing. The students are working on their own descriptive stories. They can tell you about the "bad" words that we will no longer be using. The stories will be due on Monday!!!
We also began our new math unit on Number and number concepts. They students have been working with place value charts and smart board activities.
Thank you to everyone for reading my Halloween letter. I appreciate the support and notes in the agenda. Our Halloween party is going to be nutritious and exciting! I can't wait to see all of the costumes.
PD DAY TOMORROW----NO SCHOOL!!!!
We have a volleyball game today at Bishop Greschuk in the gym after school...we will be playing St. Timothy's. We also have a volleyball tournament this weekend on Sat at St. Elizabeth Seaton (starting at 8:30 am)...come out and watch :)
Cheers,
Mrs. Denman

Hi All!
We have had a very busy week, short, but busy!
The students wrote their first Math unit test. They didn't seem to find the test that hard. I encourage the students to practice their multiplication tables at home. It is important for them to know these basic facts. We have created flashcards that they can practice with or using a deck of cards at home they can play SNAP! If you aren't sure how this game is played please ask you child (they would love to play with you)
Tomorrow I am away at a Student Symposium on health and wellness. I am taking two grade five girls from our class: Brittani and Debora and two others from grade 6. We hope to learn many things!!!
Homework: If you haven't taken a look at your child's math test please do so and sign and return back to school. Their independent reading log is due on Monday. Also, the social project is due tomorrow (Fri). Most student's have already completed this. The science project is due on Monday (this was done in pairs)!
I guess you can tell that report card season is upon us :)
Have a great weekend!

Wed Oct 6th
Good Afternoon!
Today we had our beautiful New Testament Celebration. The wonderful Father Catfish presided our celebration and was a huge hit! He brought along his cute dog named NEMO! The students had a great time :)
Tomorrow we have a presentation from a Canadian author: Eric Wilson. He is famous for his mystery stories and has sold books across the globe. I briefly read a chapter from his book, "Vampires in Ottawa". The students were very interested in this book. Maybe they might even ask you to go to the library to get a book written by him.
Tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday for food donations for the food bank. Please send a food item with your child if possible.
Homework: The students are working on a math review right now for their test. This will be assigned over the weekend if not finished during class time. Also they have a math unit test on Tuesday Oct 12th. The science projects are also due next week.
Have a great evening!
